Multi-Language Support
Multi-language support for the public portal makes government information accessible to diverse communities.
Supported Languages
| Code | Language |
|---|---|
en | English (default) |
es | Spanish |
fr | French |
zh-CN | Simplified Chinese |
What's Translated
The UI (navigation, buttons, labels) is translated for every supported language. Visitors switch via the language selector in the public portal header.
Content (item titles, descriptions, etc.) is not auto-translated — it appears in the language it was written in.
Language-Tagged Attachments
The primary mechanism for multilingual content. When uploading an attachment, tag it with a specific language:
- No tag — shown to all visitors
- Tagged (e.g.,
es) — shown only when that language is active
A Spanish staff report appears for Spanish-speaking visitors; the English original appears for everyone else.
Upload the default (usually English) version untagged, then upload translations with their language tags. The default acts as a fallback for languages without a specific translation.
Default Language
Configure under Settings. Determines which language a visitor sees before they pick one.
